Nomination for distinguished R&D Professionals for the posts of Distinguished Scientists

The Embassy of India would like to inform that the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is looking for visionary R&D leaders to shape a new science and technology landscape in India so as to address global scientific and technological challenges as Distinguished Scientist through its prestigious national Laboratories/Institutes. The position is open both for Indian Citizens and Scientist/Technologist of Indian Origin. The candidate for the positions of Distinguished Scientist must be either an accomplished scientist of international eminence or a technologist with a combination of high academic credentials and R&D experience at leadership level in a corporate R&D or government R&D organization. He/she should have a track record of leading major technology development programmes. Distinguished Scientist may also be expected to mentor and nurture a team of young scientists devoted to focused R&D in mission mode. The position of Distinguished Scientist is in the pay level 16 (INR 205,400-224,400) of Pay Matrix as per the 7th CPC plus other allowances as per rules. The appointment would be on contract on part-time/full-time basis.

Established in 1942, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is an autonomous Society whose President is the Prime Minister of India. CSIR today is amongst the leading publicly funded scientific and industrial research organizations in the world. CSIR has, over the years, played a pivotal role in meeting the Science & Technology needs of the country. CSIR has a dynamic network of 37 state-of-the-art national Laboratories/Institutes and their extension/outreach Centres. CSIR’s vision is to “pursue science which strives for global impact, technology that enables innovation-driven industry and nurture trans-disciplinary leadership thereby catalyzing inclusive economic development for the people of India”.

The CSIR has been ranked 9th in the world amongst the 1207 Government institutions according to the SCImago Institutions ranking World Report 2017 with an overall global ranking of 75 in the world, covering 5250 institutions.
